Endeavouring Health, Liberating Happiness

My medical journey set off in 2007 when I got a seat via the COMEDK exam (MBBS).

Life was good and I learned a great deal in almost all specialities during the internship as we got the maximum opportunities, be it laparoscopic or spinal or operative or direct interaction with patients. (P.S- My history-taking skills were shaped there.)

Just after finishing my MBBS, I joined a few centres of excellence and learned a fair bit about cardiology discipline and ICU work culture. Then I secured a seat in post-graduation where I opted for PMR.

I joined Sambhunath Pandit hospital, Kolkata, and immediately was lost in the complexities of the branch, the intricacies of the treatments, and the perks and pleasures of relieving my patients of their pain and improving their activities of daily living (ADL). I practised rural and community-based rehabilitation and learned the core principles there. In short, my life got a better purpose and shaped my career and personality.

Just after finishing my DNB PMR, I moved on to join AIIMS Jodhpur for registrarship, where another set of Doyen of PMR taught and mentored me (Dr Nitesh Gonnade and Dr Ravi Gaur). It was there that I learned Interventional Physiatry in the form of both USG-guided and CARM procedures. I would also like to thank Dr Ashish Chakravarty for my CARM guide interventions hands-on).

NIMS University saw the potential in me and invited me to start the department, in my 3rd year of being Registrar at AIIMS Jodhpur. At NIMS, I learned leadership and management qualities and successfully set up a busy department with 40 beds IPD, more than 400 BPT students, 10 occupational therapy students, 10 MPTS, and 2 Occupational therapists. I conducted various departmental activities and conferences in my capacity as a consultant (PMR) and Director (college of PT & OT).
